Senior Research Officer in Bioinformatics Position Overview

The Centre for Molecular Oncology at UNSW Australia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Officer in Bioinformatics to join our research team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of cancer biology through patient-centred discovery programs and clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to bioinformatics and statistical analysis using population-scale whole genome/transcriptomics datasets.
  • Develop and implement new and cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and pipelines.
  • Collaborate with our research team to discover novel genetic variants and improve patient outcomes.
  • Manage multiple internal and external collaborations, and train, mentor, and support research staff and students.

Requirements

  • A degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the analysis of population-scale whole genome/transcriptomics datasets.
  • Strong publication record and experience in managing multiple internal and external collaborations.
  • Experience in Linux command line, scripting languages, and containerisation using Docker and/or Singularity.
