
Community Housing Advocate

As a dedicated professional, you have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in your community by joining our Housing Connect team as a Connections Coach.
This is a permanent, full-time role with 76 hours work fortnightly.
Responsibilities- Conduct initial and comprehensive assessments to determine service response and resource distribution.
- Provide critical information and advice on the Housing Connect service offers and expectations.
- Address immediate needs, including assessment for and access to flexible funds for reasonable and necessary support.
- Complete housing assistance applications for people unable or unwilling to use the Housing Connect Portal.
- Cultivate and support service users to develop and progress an immediate response or Initial Action Plan for keeping or finding housing.
- Facilitate access to specialist services, mainstream opportunities, networks, and resources to build social capital supporting housing and other goals.
- Collect and record data and information required for the Housing Connect evaluation and Portal.
- Assist with social housing, private rental, and other housing assistance applications.
- A competitive salary range of $91,567 to $95,974 plus superannuation and salary sacrifice.
- Not-for-profit salary packaging available to increase take-home pay.
- A 7% Graduate Loading for degree holders in relevant disciplines.

- Expertise in conducting assessments using Advantaged Thinking practice approach.
- Expertise in brief interventions: short-term planning, goal setting, provision of relevant information, and connection to opportunities and resources.
- High-level initiative and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities and discern external service system pathways.
- Ability to develop, leverage, and sustain relationships across sectors to maximize outcomes.
- Up-to-date knowledge of housing information, community resources, and referral points.
- Understanding of Tasmania's current housing market and difficulties facing low-income individuals seeking housing.
- Understanding of human development and relevant community links and systems.
- Commitment to capabilities and Advantaged Thinking practice approach values and ideals.
- Experience in working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Time management skills to effectively set priorities and manage an assigned caseload.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills to maintain accurate case-notes and provide required information.
- Computer skills, particularly operating word processing and database management software packages.
- Commitment to working collaboratively with Housing Connect partners.
- Tertiary qualifications or extensive experience deemed equivalent.
