Role Overview
Making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families experiencing housing disadvantage is at the heart of this critical role.
As a skilled Connections Coach, you will empower clients by working collaboratively to develop and implement effective strategies for securing or maintaining housing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify service response requirements and resource allocation.
- Provide expert information and guidance on Housing Connect services and expectations.
- Address immediate needs through assessment and access to flexible funds for reasonable and necessary support.
- Craft and support applications for housing assistance, including those who cannot or choose not to use the Housing Connect Portal.
- Empower clients to build social capital by facilitating access to specialist services, mainstream opportunities, networks, and resources.
- Collect and record data as required for Housing Connect evaluation and Portal purposes.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Expertise in conducting assessments using an Advantaged Thinking practice approach.
- Proficiency in brief interventions: short-term planning and goal setting, provision of relevant information, connection to opportunities, resources, people, and networks.
- High-level initiative and problem-solving skills with ability to identify opportunities and discern external service system pathways.
- Developing and sustaining relationships across service systems, community, business, and education sectors.
- Up-to-date knowledge of housing information, community resources, service providers, and referral points.
- Understanding of Tasmania's current housing market and challenges faced by low-income individuals seeking housing.
- Knowledge of human development and normative activities, behaviors, and developmental milestones characteristic to stage of life.
- Commitment to capabilities and Advantaged Thinking practice values.
- Collaboration and teamwork experience within multidisciplinary teams, including team de-briefing and program planning activities.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills with ability to manage assigned caseload effectively.
- Excellent communication and written skills including accurate case-notes and correspondence preparation.
- Computer proficiency in operating word processing and database management software packages.
- Commitment to collaborative work with Housing Connect partners to ensure consistency across all operations.
- Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position or extensive experience with lesser qualifications deemed equivalent.
