Lab Technician Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lab Technician to join our busy Histology Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for routine specimen processing, pre and post analytical handling, identification and prioritization of urgent specimens, filing and storage of specimens and data entry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine receipting and processing of specimens; including operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Pre and post analytical specimen handling and testing
  • Identification and prioritization of urgent specimens and test results
  • Filing and storage of specimens and data entry
  • Assisting scientists in the laboratory as required
  • Continuous learning of testing requirements for different types of samples
  • Staying up-to-date with testing updates and protocols
  • Responding to test results, sample requirements and general queries from colleagues and management
  • Identifying and resolving problems at the pre-analytic stage

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop their skills and knowledge in laboratory techniques and procedures. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a variety of specimens and tests, and will be expected to contribute to the smooth running of the laboratory.

Requirements:

  • Previous laboratory experience and exposure to medical terminology
  • Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to cope and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
