Cochlear Limited, the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Incubation Operations team at its headquarters in Macquarie University. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering, with extensive experience in medical device applications, including materials like silicone, titanium, and polymers. Strong skills in CAD tools, drawings, and mechanical tolerance analyses are also essential.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a start-up style environment, where agility, creativity, and pragmatism are highly valued. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of innovative commercial offerings for start-up medical device companies, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to inform design decisions.

Key responsibilities include supporting Design Authority decision-making, documenting designs and processes, ensuring devices meet safety and performance standards, and identifying potential risks. A strong understanding of formal problem-solving processes, such as Kepner-Tregoe Method and Fishbone Analysis, is also required.

In return for your expertise, you can expect a competitive salary of approximately $120,000 per annum, commensurate with your experience.
