About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Disability Support Specialist to join our team as a Behaviour Support Practitioner. The successful candidate will have current suitability at the Proficient level, as confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

As a Disability Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing supports to NDIS participants living in the Penrith Region. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for working in the disability sector and a proactive attitude towards improvement.

The successful candidate will possess excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload. They will also be solution-focused, highly organised, and possess exceptional people skills.

Your Responsibilities
  • Assist NDIS participants, along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
  • Evaluate, develop, and deliver evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
  • Develop meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, and with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
  • Ensure individual plans reflect our NDIS participants' goals, passions, and strengths
  • Build the knowledge, capacity, and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners
Requirements
  • Current suitability - confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - at the Proficient level as a Behaviour Support Practitioner
  • Completed a degree-level qualification as an allied health professional
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas
  • Genuine passion for working in the disability sector
