The role involves delivering high-quality legal services to support the department's functions and legislative portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert advice and support on legal matters associated with the department's functions and legislative portfolio.
- Identify and assess complex legal issues, seeking expert advice as required, and develop constructive relationships with stakeholders.
- Develop and review legal policies, procedures, and templates, delivering internal training on legal matters.
- Experience in identifying and assessing complex legal issues under limited supervision.
- Interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and guidelines to complex situations, formulating practical solutions.
- Providing advice to government agencies on legal issues, risk mitigation, and utilizing high initiative and judgement.
- Prioritizing competing workloads, working to tight deadlines, and demonstrating sound judgment and reliability.
- Degree in law and admission or eligibility to a Supreme Court.
- Practicing Certificate and at least 3 years post-admission legal experience.
Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment, with renewal every 3 years.
