**Job Summary**:

This Cemetery Operator role is responsible for performing operational functions of cemeteries, including ground facility and equipment maintenance, interments, function support, and crematorium operations. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out regular facility and amenity cleaning and maintenance, provide operational support for cremation operations, and offer information to visitors, funeral service directors, and other stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on cemetery facilities and equipment;
  • Conduct interments and related activities in a respectful and efficient manner;
  • Provide excellent customer service to visitors and stakeholders;
  • Support crematorium operations and ensure compliance with relevant regulations;

**Requirements:**

  • 'Hands-on' experience with computer-based business systems;
  • Current Vehicle licence - medium rigid;
  • Chemical users certificate - (Chemcert certificate);
  • High level oral communication skills in a sensitive environment;
  • Competence in record keeping and computer interface;
  • Ability to work unsupervised;

**Note:** This position is based in the Tweed Valley Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium at Eviron, and may require travel to other Council work sites.
