
Cemetery Operator

**The Role**:
- Perform the operational functions of Council's cemeteries including, ground facility and equipment maintenance, interments, functions support and crematorium operations
- Carries out regular facility and amenity cleaning and maintenance
- Provides operational support for cremation operations
- Provide information to visitors to the cemeteries, funeral service directors, Council's cemetery operations foreman, council's cemeteries administrator and other units within Council's organisation.

**We are seeking**:
- 'Hands-on' experience with computer-based business systems
- Current Vehicle licence - medium rigid
- Chemical users certificate - (Chemcert certificate)
- Communication skills in a sensitive environment for handling public enquiries, complaints and minor conflicts
- Competence in reading and understanding plans/drawings.
**Where it's located**:
This position is based in at the Tweed Valley Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium at Eviron, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.

**Essential**:
1. Current Vehicle Licence - Medium Rigid.
2. Willing to undertake training to operator a backhoe or excavator.
3. Appropriate Chemical users certificate. (Chemcert certificate).
4. Demonstrated competence in operation and use of small plant for maintenance activities.
5. Demonstrated high level oral communication skills in a sensitive environment for handling public enquiries, complaints and minor conflicts.
6. Demonstrated competence in record keeping and computer interface.
7. Demonstrated competence in working with Maintenance, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
8. Demonstrated competence in implementing environmental protection devices.
9. Demonstrated competence in reading and understanding plans/drawings.
10. Demonstrated competence in care and maintenance of Cemetery grounds.
11. Demonstrate competence to construct minor/major landscape projects.
12. Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
**Desirable**:
13. General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
14. Demonstrated competence Cemeteries and burial operations.
15. Demonstrated competence in crematorium operations.
