Our organization is seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the role of Health, Safety and Wellbeing Specialist.

This key position plays a pivotal part in driving our business forward by developing and implementing effective health, safety and wellbeing strategies across our sites.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. They will be responsible for leading the development of site-based health, safety and wellbeing improvement plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Building capability and enhancing accountability for safety amongst managers and staff through coaching and influencing techniques.
  • Displaying and promoting best practice health, safety and wellbeing initiatives through active leadership and engagement.
  • Driving safe systems of work, conducting quality incident investigations and delivering visible leadership through education, coaching and monitoring programs.
  • Consulting with managers, supervisors, health and safety committees, contractors and third parties on operational safety issues, providing expert advice and assistance to enhance health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Participating in risk management activities, including facilitating risk assessments, developing standard operating procedures and conducting control verifications.
  • Conducting performance monitoring activities such as preparing site health, safety and wellbeing reports. Developing, implementing and monitoring gap closure plans in consultation with the executive team.
  • Monitoring and reviewing site health, safety and wellbeing performance with the executive team to identify trends and hotspots, and celebrating successes.
  • Participating in regulator inspections related to health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Contributing to state and national strategic programs, initiatives, forums and advisory committees to drive health, safety and wellbeing improvements.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
  • Diploma in Work Health and Safety.
