Mid-Senior Level Cook Position

This is a full-time cook role at Labour Support Group requiring an experienced professional to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring food quality and presentation by examining dishes.
  • Cooking a variety of menu items and specialty dishes under the guidance of the head chef.
  • Collaborating with kitchen staff to prepare complete meals and individual dishes.
  • Utilizing different cooking methods such as tandoori, frying, steaming, boiling, and roasting.
  • Portioning food, garnishing with gravies, sauces, and condiments.
  • Regulating oven temperatures and maintaining kitchen equipment in good working condition.
  • Reporting maintenance needs to management.
  • Managing inventory and supplies, ordering raw materials as needed.
  • Reviewing menus with the head chef and contributing to seasonal changes.
  • Maintaining safe kitchen operations and following all OH&SC requirements.
  • Cleaning and maintaining work areas and kitchen equipment.
  • Stocking stations and assisting with supply ordering.
  • Ensuring kitchen safety and sanitation practices are followed.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in cookery or hospitality.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in authentic Indian cuisine.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a commercial cook in a restaurant kitchen.
  • Experience with cooking curry and Tandoori.
  • Ability to work with proteins like beef, lamb, and seafood.
  • Passion for great food and presentation.
  • Understanding of and commitment to food safety.
  • Experience in kitchen operations and team management.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Skills in goods ordering and menu costing.
  • Effective stock control and wastage minimization.
  • Able to work a flexible roster including weekends.
