Family Contact Worker Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Contact Worker to supervise and support safe family contact for children in care.

About the Role
  • This role involves travel to carer homes and community locations as needed, providing autonomy and flexibility for our ideal candidate.
  • The successful applicant will have strong communication skills and be able to write clear, detailed reports soon after each visit.
Key Responsibilities
  • Transport and supervise family contact visits autonomously, ensuring the safety and well-being of all parties involved.
  • Support care plans with Case Managers, utilizing your expertise to drive positive outcomes for children in care.
  • Identify and report child protection concerns promptly, upholding our organization's commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
  • Manage visits when not in the child's best interest, demonstrating empathy and understanding in challenging situations.
Requirements
  • A Diploma in Community Services (or related field) is preferred but not required; we welcome applicants with relevant experience and a passion for this work.
  • Valid Driver's Licence, WWCC, First Aid & NDI clearance are essential for this role, as you will be responsible for transporting children during visits.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial for effective collaboration with diverse families and stakeholders.
  • You will need to manage conflict and work with families from various backgrounds, fostering a culture of respect and understanding.
  • Understanding of child safety and car restraint laws is also essential for this position.
