Job Opportunity

The role of Senior Counsel, APAC Employment Law, involves providing comprehensive advice on all aspects of employment law across the Asia Pacific region with a focus on Australia, China, and Japan.

This position will support collaboration with partners in Human Resources, Enterprise Risk, Ethics & Compliance, and business professionals across regional business units.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct legal guidance on Australian employment law matters, including discrimination allegations, counselling, investigations, grievances, and terminations.
  • Offering succinct and direct employment law advice that is strategic, business-focussed, risk-conscious, compliant, and actionable.
  • Working with Industrial Relations to participate in Enterprise Agreement strategy, support negotiations, claims analysis, and impact on the organisation.
  • Managing and assessing employment law items across APAC, utilising local internal legal support where available.
  • Overseeing outside counsel and representing the company where appropriate in litigation and agency matters.
Requirements
  • LLB or JD from an Australian university.
  • Admission to practise in Victoria, Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in Australian Employment law matters, with in-house experience desirable.
  • Experience in conducting or overseeing complex employment-related items and working effectively within a matrixed organisational structure.
