Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to provide sustainable, practical legal support in employment and industrial relations matters. This is a 2-month contract based in Melbourne with hybrid options.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on secondment with a client in the higher education sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with in-house teams to deliver high-quality legal advice in employment and industrial relations matters.
  • Provide guidance on employment law issues and act as an advisor on related matters.
  • Work on industrial relations matters, WHS/OHS, and appear at the Fair Work Commission.
  • Handle general protection and unfair dismissal claims; contribute to workplace investigations; support claims defence and compliance programs.
  • Collaborate with legal peers and internal clients; manage stakeholders and influence outcomes.
Essential Qualifications
  • 8+ years PQE in employment law; ideally trained with a well-regarded firm and with in-house experience.
  • Strong experience in employment law, with a commercial, proactive, and flexible mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
