As a Compositing Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic, you will be responsible for leading a team of compositing artists to deliver high-quality visual effects for feature films and episodic productions. You will work closely with the Supervision Team and Show Leadership to plan, implement, and deliver compositing solutions that meet the client's needs and expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee all aspects of 2D compositing, including determining technical approaches and providing technical leadership to achieve desired results.
- Work with Production and CG Supervisors to design workflow and throughput for assigned shows.
- Collaborate with Production on bid estimates, schedules, and staff capacity planning.
- Participate in colour management, including scanning photography and internal colour management systems to ensure colour consistency.
- Ensure proper clean-up, documentation, and archiving of projects after completion.
- Interface with other departments to ensure seamless combination of work from other disciplines.
- Assist in assessing software needs and requirements.
- Participate in supervision and leadership of people and culture decisions, including recruitment, work procedures, priorities, career development, employee morale, performance reviews, and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with the Talent Manager on employee reviews and scheduling personnel on shows, providing input on skills, productivity, and career development.
- Provide honest, timely feedback to compositing crew members.
- Assist in designing and executing training for the compositing discipline.
- Work with the Talent Manager on defining recruitment needs and participating in the interview process for compositing candidates.
- Work with ILM Senior Management to understand capacity issues and mitigate studio capacity issues, as needed.
- Collaborate with Talent Management to mentor potential supervisory talent.
- Provide clear, concise, and timely feedback to the Show Leadership Team and individual artists on the project.
- Work with Talent Management to handle individual performance issues on the project.
- Proven experience as a Compositing Supervisor or similar role in the visual effects industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of artists.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong technical skills, with a deep understanding of compositing software and techniques.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and techniques.
