Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating and monitoring construction costs from project feasibility stage through tender preparation, construction period, and beyond. You will maximize value, minimize risk, and optimize all building cost outcomes by completing detailed cost estimates, comparing contractor quotations against industry standards, and providing accurate m2 elemental reports.

  • Estimate and monitor construction costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maximize value and minimize risk in building cost management.
  • Complete detailed cost estimates and calculations.
  • Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors.
  • Compare contractor quotations and industry standards.
  • Provide accurate m2 elemental reports for underinsurance purposes.
  • Process progress claims and variation assessments.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Building and Construction Management, Construction Management and Property, Urban Development (Quantity Surveying and Cost Engineering), or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of insurance industry practices, legislative framework, codes, and products.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Thorough understanding of building costs and construction techniques.
  • Experience working within the insurance industry on domestic and commercial losses.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Current driver's license.
