We are seeking an experienced Principal Platform Engineer to lead the modernisation of our DevSecOps landscape, ensuring alignment with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and methodologies.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the Commonwealth Bank of Australia's Engineering Pathway Crew, where you will play a critical role in driving smooth, safe, and effective code development and deployment. As a Principal Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the modernisation and enhancement of our engineering tooling suite, providing a world-class experience for our engineers.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the modernisation of our DevSecOps landscape, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and emerging technologies
  • Provide vision and direction for the implementation and continuous improvement of engineering tooling
  • Ensure seamless integration of various DevSecOps tools to create a cohesive and efficient development environment
  • Work closely with cybersecurity teams to enhance supply chain security and implement robust security measures
  • Ensure all engineering tooling and practices comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Collaborate with risk management teams to identify and remediate technology risks, ensuring secure and compliant systems
Your Impact and Contribution

You will be tasked with implementing DevSecOps strategies, technical standards, and best practices, ensuring our engineering tooling is cutting-edge, efficient, and secure. Your expertise will also focus on enhancing the reliability, availability, and performance of our applications by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to implement site reliability principles and practices, troubleshoot complex issues, and develop robust system engineering solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with DevSecOps tooling, including CI/CD pipelines, artifact management, automation testing, and code scanning tools. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Typescript, PowerShell, or similar, as well as programming languages like C#, Java, Go, or similar, is essential. Experience with containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, cloud platforms, and monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus is also highly desirable.
