Arborist Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and passionate arborist to shape Wodonga's streetscapes and parks by caring for the city's trees.

This role involves planting, pruning, removals, watering and pest/weed control with a strong focus on tree health and safety. You will also operate and maintain various machinery such as chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, EWPs and other equipment.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, mechanically minded, and enjoys working with tools and equipment every day. They must apply safe work practices, traffic management plans and OHS procedures to protect themselves, their team and the community.

This opportunity allows you to work closely with Outdoor Operations teams to support a wide variety of city projects. You will value teamwork, communicate effectively, and enjoy engaging respectfully with community members when explaining works on site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate and maintain the health and beauty of Wodonga's trees through regular maintenance and care.
  • Operate and maintain a range of machinery and equipment to ensure efficient and effective outcomes.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Outdoor Operations teams to deliver high-quality results and achieve project goals.
Requirements:
  • Hold a Certificate III in Arboriculture or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrate experience in tree identification and ability to assess tree health and risk.
  • Show basic knowledge of and experience in using various IT systems.
  • Be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Understand the importance of maintaining a safe working environment and adhere to OHS principles.
  • Provide excellent customer service and deliver high-quality work outputs.
