About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Financial Lines team. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting and developing a portfolio of complex risks, using your underwriting acumen, flair, and business development skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new business and renewals of high complexity, aligning with our underwriting strategy, authority levels, and service standards.
- Provide exceptional service to our customers and handle key portfolios/accounts with intermediaries.
- Strengthen relationships with all stakeholders to deliver business retention, growth, and profitability targets.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation, best practice, underwriting, systems, products, and organizational guidelines.
- Focus on increasing and sharing knowledge of QBE's capability, risk appetite, and products, as well as brokers' operations, to strengthen our delivery of innovative solutions.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, development, and mentoring of Underwriters, Trainees, and Assistant Underwriters, as required.
- Monitor and communicate activity within your portfolio, brokers, and market peers, and report on opportunities and risks to improve results.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Senior Underwriter with a strong background in Directors & Officers and/or Professional Indemnity Insurance. Financial Institutions, Information Technology, or Medical Malpractice experience would also be highly regarded.
Requirements
- Strong established customer/broker relationships and the ability to quickly develop relationships.
- Proven experience negotiating and influencing within the insurance industry.
- Working knowledge of risk management and portfolio management.
- Be a self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills, problem-solving, and process improvement experience.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant market conditions and local market policies.
