Transport Operations Specialist Role

This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of bus transport services to support our workforce and community.

  • Providing leadership and guidance on safety management systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Supporting aviation and facilities management supervisors in planning and coordinating bus operations across multiple sites.
  • Being available on call to provide support during significant events and incidents.
  • Developing and implementing shutdown bus services to meet key stakeholder needs within established parameters.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of bus service providers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Supporting safe aviation operations by completing airport reporting officer duties as scheduled, including working late shifts when required.
  • Leading and participating in field leadership activities, hazard reporting, and event investigations to drive continuous improvement.
  • Managing and monitoring costs, including providing accurate forecasts and reports, and raising purchase orders as necessary.
  • Driving initiatives to enhance customer experience through data analysis and process improvements.
  • Contributing to BHP's operating system (BOS) routines to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establishing and maintaining productive relationships with contracting partners, customers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Requirements

This role requires an individual who can work effectively in dynamic team environments and autonomously. Previous experience in managing contractor execution teams is essential.

  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse data and provide recommendations.
  • Proven ability to influence and mentor others in HSEC principles and behaviours, including managing material risks and critical control execution.
  • Competent in MS Office systems, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid manual driver's license is required.
  • Willingness to develop knowledge of airport reporting officer training and obtain airport security identification card (ASIC).
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances.
