Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled mechanical designer to join our team of passionate water specialists.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for importing and manipulating vendor drawings/models, producing detailed mechanical drawings/models including P&ID's, exporting equipment/piping quantities, collaborating with Mechanical/Process engineers to deliver plans for construction, supporting project teams with documentation, revisions, and coordination of drawings/models, and establishing and maintaining design templates and drawing standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Import and manipulate vendor drawings/models: Receive and analyze drawings/models from vendors, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Produce detailed mechanical drawings/models: Create detailed designs and drawings for mechanical systems, including P&ID's.
  • Export equipment/piping quantities: Extract and document equipment and piping quantities for project planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical/Process engineers: Work closely with engineers to develop and deliver plans for construction.
  • Support project teams: Provide documentation, revisions, and coordination of drawings/models to support project teams.
  • Maintain design templates and standards: Develop and maintain consistent design templates and standards for mechanical drawings/models.
Requirements
  • Relevant skills and qualifications: Proficient in relevant CAD software, including Autodesk Civil 3D and Autodesk Plant 3D. Experience in water and wastewater treatment and/or conveyance design. Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Safety knowledge: Knowledge of safety in design, constructability, operational practices, and relevant Australian standards and WSAA codes.
  • Education: Relevant TAFE qualifications, diploma, or degree in drafting, engineering, or design.
  • Risk management: Understanding of risk management and the ability to identify project and design-related risks.
  • Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with a broad range of audiences.
