System Leader Job Overview

The role of System Leader will be to lead a team in power system engineering, focusing on future-focused projects. This position requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to drive innovation and change within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a high-performing team in power system studies, including attracting and retaining talent
  • Manage external consultants and contribute to strategic decision-making as a member of the management team
  • Develop and implement departmental initiatives aligned with overall business strategies
  • Lead system study elements of the Engineering Roadmap and Transition Plan for System Security
  • Develop and maintain system study capability, tools, models, and future state cases for technical investigations
  • Specify technical requirements and capability from emerging technologies, including grid forming inverters
  • Deliver planning studies in collaboration with stakeholders and Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs)
  • Provide engineering expertise and advisory services to support reform development and implementation
Requirements
  • Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as engineering
  • Deep expertise in power systems operation and planning, as well as complex engineering challenges
  • Experience building and managing teams in technical environments
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage strategic changes and negotiate outcomes
  • Understanding of industry frameworks, such as the National Energy Retail Law and the National Electricity Market
