Job Title:

A Data Governance Lead is responsible for leading the data governance capability, promoting a culture of data ownership across the organisation. This role involves developing and implementing comprehensive data governance strategies, frameworks, and roadmaps aligned with industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data governance strategies, frameworks, and roadmaps to ensure efficient utilisation and management of data assets.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in data governance and provide suggestions for enhancements to elevate data management practices and capabilities.
  • Train stakeholders on data governance policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure data quality, integrity, security, and privacy.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, and data owners to outline roles, responsibilities, and structures for accountability within data governance.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure data governance practices align with laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to address data governance challenges and foster a culture of data literacy and awareness throughout the organisation.

Requirements:

  • A formal qualification in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Governance, or a related field.
  • Experience in data governance, data management, or a related role (5 years' experience is a general indicator).
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and their impacts on data governance.
  • Expertise in crafting and executing data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Competency in using data discovery, profiling, and data quality evaluation tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with data governance technologies and utilities is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, solution-oriented, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities for seamless interaction with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Capacity to lead transformation, cultivate a data-driven ethos, and enhance awareness of data governance throughout the organisation.
  • A track record in project management and simultaneous oversight of multiple data governance initiatives.
