About the Position

We are seeking a seasoned Underwriting Professional to assume key responsibilities within our SME portfolio.

The primary objective is to deliver exceptional customer service and achieve profitable premium growth while maintaining underwriting profitability in core segments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Personal underwriting of the SME portfolio with particular focus on renewals, and new business policies as required
  • Act as the first point of contact for all SME underwriting related matters and issues, providing considered guidance and advice when appropriate and escalating when necessary
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, brokers, and distribution customers placing business with us
  • Collaborate with Regional Managers and Product Teams to ensure efficient underwriting and management of the SME portfolio
  • Contribute to risk and compliance management practices within the SME portfolio by serving as the first line of defense
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven underwriting expertise within the insurance sector
  • Strong personal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish rapport and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting KPIs and business goals
  • Up-to-date knowledge of general insurance principles, including commercial insurance policies, pricing, reinsurance, claims, and risk management
