The Opportunity

The Youth Services and Partnerships Unit at Maribyrnong City Council leads various key programs for young people aged 12-25 years across the municipality, including managing the Phoenix Youth Hub as a central activity center for youth-specific services.

The Coordinator Youth Services and Partnerships plays a crucial role in planning for the continuum of child, youth, and family services to meet the community's needs throughout their life stages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement contemporary integrated youth services, programs, and initiatives across the municipality.
  • Determine the changing needs of young people in Maribyrnong and identify opportunities and strategies that respond to local needs.
  • Oversee the activation, operations, and promotion of the Phoenix Youth Hub.
  • Work collaboratively with Council teams to engage young people in decision-making and participation throughout the organization.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies and non-government organizations relevant to young people and the youth service sector in Maribyrnong.
About You

We are seeking a qualified and innovative Coordinator Youth Services and Partnerships to lead and manage the strategic and operational service delivery of Maribyrnong Youth Services and the Phoenix Youth Hub.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in youth work, community development, education, or a related human/social sciences discipline.
  • Strong experience in operational and strategic leadership of community-facing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in high-level partnership development and achieving positive outcomes through working with external service providers and community-based organizations.
  • Able to balance operational service delivery with strategic planning, policy development, and project management.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; and experience in compiling reports/submissions for funding.
  • Knowledge and experience in budget preparation and monitoring.
