Position Overview:
Role: Estimator
Location: Redfern Office
Why This Role is Engaging:
The Estimator plays a crucial role in overseeing the estimation process for new tenders and ongoing projects, focusing on developing rates, schedules, quantities, and pricing for various project types related to Water and Wastewater infrastructure. This position collaborates closely with the construction and delivery teams to create precise estimates for a variety of treatment and network infrastructure assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal teams including Design, Construction, Safety, Proposals, and management to ensure accurate and timely work estimations.
- Establish and uphold project cost estimation standards, procedures, and tools that align with organizational objectives.
- Maintain a benchmarking framework/database for projects, providing trend analysis and insights to enhance cost methodologies.
- Conduct benchmarking for cost comparisons utilizing first principles, historical projects, and various other resources.
- Keep supplier and pricing schedule databases updated with current pricing information.
- Assist in preparing cost plans, tenders, and budget estimates as necessary.
- Deliver high-quality analytical support for project cost plans, budget estimates, tenders, and business cases, ensuring timely delivery.
- Apply appropriate resources to accurately build up estimations.
- Comprehend the scope, material take-off, technical specifications, and operational processes.
- Consistently prioritize safety and adhere to organizational and regulatory HSEQ requirements.
- Understand the significance and application of Cost Breakdown and Work Breakdown structures.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and time management skills to meet deliverable deadlines.
- Provide analytical support for regular reviews and validation of cost planning and estimates, identifying potential issues to the Lead Estimator.
- Participate in bid reviews to confirm the accuracy of cost estimations and pinpoint areas for enhancement.
- Engage with the construction team to gather site feedback for future estimation improvements.
- Collaborate with clients to align on methodologies and work breakdowns.
- Conduct site visits as necessary to gain a comprehensive understanding of scope and access challenges.
- Exercise discretion in managing confidential and sensitive information that could affect organizational performance and reputation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Possession of a current Driver's License is desirable.
- Experience in Quantity Surveying or Estimation.
- Proven track record in major infrastructure projects.
- Additional qualifications in Project or Construction Management are advantageous.
