Job Summary:

Mental Health Professionals play a pivotal role in providing early intervention services, including short-term counselling, to students with mild to moderate mental health concerns.

The ideal candidate will contribute to whole-school health and wellbeing plans, building the capability of teaching staff and school leadership to address student mental health and wellbeing.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Counselling Services: Delivering targeted mental health prevention and promotion activities and early intervention services for students with a range of mental health needs
  • Capacity Building: Providing advice and professional learning to teachers and other wellbeing staff to enhance their capacity in schools
  • Intervention Strategies: Planning and implementing evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs, collaborating with families, other professionals, and agencies as needed
Key Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, nursing, occupational therapy, or counselling from an accredited institution
  • Counselling Experience: Demonstrated direct counselling experience in a similar setting
  • Working With Children Check: Current clearance for working with children
Bonus Points:
  • Educational Psychology: Specialisation in educational and/or developmental psychology
  • Australian College Membership: Membership with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses or equivalent organisation
  • Professional Endorsements: Accredited Social Worker Trade Mark or Better Access to Mental Health Endorsement
