Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Cumberlege Intermediate Care Centre (CICC).

CICC is a 22-bed Stroke Rehabilitation Unit providing inpatient rehabilitation for stroke survivors in the South East Essex area.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing development of the therapy provision alongside the Band 7 Physio and SLT.
  • The post holder will provide expert neurological assessment and rehabilitation skills, supporting the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate effective prevention of admission to hospital or residential care and facilitation of discharge from hospital to the Intermediate Care Services for stroke survivors.
  • The successful candidate will oversee care provision, ensuring accurate records and risk assessment are maintained and regularly reviewed.
  • The post holder will provide expert leadership to Stroke OT staff through support, supervision and appraisal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert neurological assessment and rehabilitation skills
  • Support the multi-disciplinary team to facilitate effective prevention of admission to hospital or residential care and facilitation of discharge from hospital to the Intermediate Care Services for stroke survivors
  • Manage and co-ordinate a caseload of patients following a diagnosis of a stroke who are undergoing rehabilitation program within CICC
  • Oversight of care provision with regular review of accurate records and risk assessments
  • Provide expert leadership to Stroke OT staff through support, supervision and appraisal
  • Collaborate closely with Social Services, Hospital Discharge Team and Commissioners to achieve smooth care pathways for patients
  • Contribute to strategic development of IC services in conjunction with the Intermediate Care Matrons, Head of Intermediate Care and Commissioners
  • Assist in collating information to support evaluation of services once commissioned
