We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD researcher to join our team in the iPSC-based Cell Therapy laboratory at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, within the Alfred Research Alliance. Our laboratory is a collaboration between Monash University and iCamuno Biotherapeutics, an innovative biotech company that is developing cell therapies from induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSCs).
About the ProjectThe successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a dynamic and supportive research team, contributing to the development of improved methods for reprogramming, gene editing, and cell differentiation to make iPSC-based cell therapies for a range of diseases, including Neural disorders, Ophthalmic diseases, Osteoarthritis, and Cancer.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research in the iPSC-based Cell Therapy laboratory, under the supervision of Associate Professor Matthew McCormack
- Develop and implement novel methods for reprogramming, gene editing, and cell differentiation
- Characterize and analyze iPSC-derived cells using various techniques, including flow cytometry, qPCR, immunoassays, microscopy, molecular biology, and histology
- Collaborate with the research team to achieve breakthroughs in stem cell therapy
- Hold a Honours degree in immunology, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, or a related discipline
- Have experience in cell biology and/or tissue culture, with a strong understanding of cell characterization methods and technologies
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team, with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Have a strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with experience in multi-omic data processing, analysis, or integration
