PhD Research Opportunity in Fibrosis Detection

Monash University is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team in the development of novel radiotracers for the detection of fibrosis. This project aims to address the current limitations of imaging techniques for fibrosis and provide a breakthrough in the field.

About the Project

Fibrosis is a scarring process that can lead to organ malfunction and is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Current imaging techniques are indirect and possess substantial limitations, making the medical need for accurate and sensitive diagnosis very high. Our project focuses on the development of molecular imaging probes for direct and sensitive detection of fibrosis during the early stages of pathology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in the development of novel radiotracers for fibrosis detection
  • Collaborate with a supportive and vibrant research team
  • Contribute to the supervision of PhD candidates
  • Present research findings at international conferences
Requirements
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate and present valid and current Australian work rights
  • Admission to a PhD at Monash University is required
  • Clinical experience in primary care nursing, general practice, rural or allied health is desirable but not mandatory
What We Offer
  • A full PhD scholarship for 3.5 years
  • A tax-free stipend of $29,500 per annum
  • Opportunities for travel to England and Germany for training
  • A supportive and collaborative research environment
How to Apply

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, academic transcript, and proof of permanent residency or Australian citizenship. Enquiries can be made to Dr Karen Alt, Senior Research Fellow.
