We are seeking a highly skilled Art Collections Officer to join our team at RMIT University. As an Art Collections Officer, you will play a key role in the care, management, and access of RMIT's art assets.
Key Responsibilities- Apply specialist collections expertise to carry out collection registration, auditing, digitisation, object handling, art installation, integrated pest management, and preventative conservation and collection research.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment and with key stakeholders across the University to support the care, management, and access of RMIT's art assets.
- Provide high-quality service to students and researchers, and contribute as an effective member of a small team.
- Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive collection catalogues and databases.
- Collaborate with the Technical Collections Coordinator to ensure the effective management of the RMIT Art Collection.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated experience in collection management practices, including the application of national and international principles, practices, standards, and ethics relating to the documentation and care of cultural collections.
- Experience in using Axiell Emu or a comparable collections management database.
- High level interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to provide a high-quality service to students and researchers.
- Effective organisational skills and a well-developed ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills.
