Family Mediation Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Family Mediation Specialist to join our team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work with families experiencing relationship difficulties, providing mediation services to help them resolve disputes in a peaceful and constructive manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct professional intake and assessment of client needs
  • Facilitate/co-facilitate family mediation sessions
  • Develop and implement safety plans to mitigate risk and ensure safety
  • Ensure that the needs and safety of the families always take priority
  • Deliver services to quality standards, complying with relevant legislation and contractual requirements
  • Maintain professional boundaries, documentation, and administrative systems according to program and legislative requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Registered as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney-General's Department
  • Tertiary degree in Social Work, Law, Psychology, Counselling, Dispute Resolution, or related field
  • Working knowledge of the complexities of family violence and child protection, and thorough understanding of reporting mechanisms using DVSAT, DOORS, SAM, and MRG/ROSH
  • Demonstrated experience with family separation and Family Law issues, working with multidisciplinary teams to provide a high level of performance and innovation, preferably relating to Family Relationship/Family Support areas
