A Senior Program Officer, Aboriginal Practice Leadership position has been created to lead culturally safe and effective interventions for Aboriginal young people across community and custody settings. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with regional teams, organisations, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement culturally safe and best-practice interventions for Aboriginal young people in community and custody settings.
  • Support the reinstatement of Aboriginal Case Management Review Panels.
  • Build staff capacity and strengthen cultural practice through training, collaboration, and statewide stakeholder engagement.
  • Drive opportunities to engage key Youth Justice staff and stakeholders in priority projects.
  • Negotiate outcomes and communicate with regional teams, organisations, and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community and culture.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.
  • Experience in designing complex programs and services for vulnerable cohorts.
  • Understanding of the Youth Justice system in Victoria.

A full driver's licence is required to work across both custodial precincts and community offices. A Working with Children Check is required prior to commencement and must be maintained during employment.
