About this Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources and Governance Professional to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal part in supporting the HR, Governance and Operations Manager across various projects encompassing governance, risk, secretariat, ICT support, work health and safety, compliance, human resources, and workforce development.

Key responsibilities include acting as the primary HR contact, offering professional advice on policies, processes, entitlements, legislative compliance, and contracts. They contribute to end-to-end recruitment and selection, optimise filing systems, databases, and procedures alongside the maintenance of records management policies and procedures.

This role also provides back-up payroll support to the Finance Manager.

The incumbent acts as the secretariat and assists with all governance responsibilities, providing efficient and effective support services to the Board Committees and various project committees/advisory groups.

They oversee the day-to-day operations of our office, provide operational, ICT support and technical assistance alongside our external IT adviser, handle supplier relationships, procure office equipment, and support events.

Duties:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for HR matters, offering professional advice on policies, processes, entitlements, legislative compliance, end-to-end recruitment and contracting arrangements.
  • Assist with the implementation of effective and efficient volunteer engagement and support systems.
  • Drive the delivery of the full range of activities related to the provision of secretariat support for the Board committees including the annual workplan, meeting scheduling, preparation, distribution and publication of meeting agendas and associated papers, and recording and dissemination of minutes.
  • Report on and follow up decisions and actions arising from board and committee meetings.
  • Provide oversight of operations at our office including maintaining stationery, common resources and general support.
  • Procurement of office equipment and supplies.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with corporate suppliers to ensure the smooth operation of systems and functions within the organisation.
  • Act as the system global administrator, ensuring proper maintenance of ICT systems.
  • Monitor, maintain and provide technical assistance for organisational ICT systems.
  • Provide support to the Governance and Operations Manager for projects related to risk, work health and safety, compliance, human resources, and workforce development and management.
  • Support the coordination and execution of events including conferences.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have qualifications in Human Resource Management and/or Governance or equivalent experience. Membership with the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI) is highly desirable. You should demonstrate expertise in the provision of effective secretariat services. A demonstrated ability to document procedures and identify opportunities for efficiencies and improvement is also essential.

You should have knowledge of a variety of technologies that include Microsoft 365 and SharePoint. Experience in a help desk and remote support environment is preferred. Strong IT skills including MS Office Suite (Word and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC are necessary. Knowledge of records management best-practice principles is also desirable.
