Community Engagement Officer

We are seeking a full-time Community Engagement Officer to deliver our mission at the local level.

  • This role involves planning, coordinating and delivering engaging activities that strengthen social connections for veterans and their families, while contributing to national online delivery.
  • The Community Engagement Officer builds strong local partnerships, ensures accurate data and compliance, and represents us professionally in the community and on Defence bases.
Key Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for

  • Planning and scheduling local social connection and peer activities;
  • Building and publishing bookings and ensuring accurate participant data;
  • Demonstrating expertise in event delivery and logistics;
  • Cultivating productive relationships with stakeholders;
  • Maintaining risk assessments and safeguarding requirements;
  • Representing us at various events;
  • Providing welcoming engagement that promotes safety, inclusion and belonging;
  • Ensuring compliance with WHS and privacy regulations;
  • Sustaining high-quality program delivery;
  • Fostering positive relationships with volunteers and staff members.
Requirements:

This position requires individuals who possess

  • Experience in community engagement, program coordination or events;
  • Strong digital capability with booking systems and social platforms;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities;
  • A current driver's licence and ability to travel locally and interstate;
  • Ability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends;
  • Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and ability to obtain Defence base access;
  • Current First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST certification or willingness to obtain one.
