We are seeking an Underwriter to become a vital part of the QBE Insurance Group. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sustainable profitability and growth through expert guidance, strategic direction, and outstanding customer service to all Insurance Agents within your designated portfolio. Your responsibilities will include underwriting business in alignment with established business strategies, underwriting protocols, service benchmarks, and your individual underwriting authority.
We are looking for a commercially savvy professional who is dedicated to customer satisfaction and capable of fostering robust business relationships both internally and with our Agency network. Your proactive approach, resilience, and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment will be essential.
Key Responsibilities
A typical day in this role may involve:
- Underwriting new and renewal business, providing timely and professional quotes.
- Engaging in meetings to contribute to strategic development, share insights, and best practices.
- Monitoring and evaluating underwriting standards, procedures, and checklists.
- Ensuring all documentation is precise and adheres to organizational policies and legal requirements.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with all clients, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders.
- Assessing risk for new business in accordance with standards to ensure profitable growth.
- Keeping abreast of current legislation, best practices, underwriting acceptance criteria, systems, and organizational policies.
Candidate Profile
To excel in this position, you should possess the following skills and attributes:
- A background in commercial operations is advantageous.
- Experience in domestic and landlord insurance is preferred.
- Familiarity with Business Packages and Farm insurance is desirable.
- Flexibility to manage a diverse and evolving portfolio.
- Established relationships with customers and brokers.
- A comprehensive understanding of class-specific underwriting and reinsurance.
- Proven knowledge of relevant market conditions for specific classes/portfolios.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
