Geriatrics Training Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for healthcare professionals to join the Geriatrics team at various hospitals. The position offers 24 months of training and rotations through departments including Geriatric Rehabilitation, Community Rapid Access, Palliative Care, and Orthogeriatrics.

Clinical management of patients under supervision will be provided by the Advanced Trainee, including patient assessment, treatment decisions, procedures, and maintaining medical records. They will also develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
  • Developing high-level independent clinical skills and judgement.
  • Making sound decisions and problem-solving with awareness of limitations.

Required qualifications and experience commensurate with the role include:

  • Qualifications and experience aligned with the advanced trainee position.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • High-level communication skills and ability to adapt information for different audiences.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.

Further education and practice in Geriatrics are encouraged and supported.
