Senior Psychiatrist in Forensic Mental Health

We are seeking a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist with sub-specialty interest in forensic psychiatry to work in Rockhampton, Central Queensland. This is a regional city offering an ideal lifestyle and serving as the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.

- Provide high-quality psychiatry services to consumers of the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service and lead the Mental Health clinical team clinically.
- Be part of a main referral hospital for Central Queensland.
Candidates with an interest in and/or certification in Forensic Mental Health including Prison Mental Health will be preferred. Consideration will be given to General Adult Psychiatrists. The provision of services for Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service is provided as one service, multiple sites.
The Consultant team consists of 16.8 consultant positions and have subspecialty interests including Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Old Age Psychiatrist, Addiction Psychiatry, Prison and Forensic Mental Health.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist psychiatric care and leadership to the Mental Health clinical team.
Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABPN certified) or New Zealand.
Expedited Pathway to Specialist Registration
The Medical Board of Australia has implemented a new pathway to specialist registration eliminating the need for a specialist assessment with a specialist medical college for those with an accepted qualification in Psychiatry.
