The Role:

As a premier manufacturer of Food Cans in Australia, Visy produces over 500 million cans each year, catering to diverse sectors.

In the role of Manufacturing Manager, reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will oversee the efficient allocation and coordination of manufacturing assets, including raw materials, workforce, and production and maintenance facilities. Your exceptional communication skills and understanding of team dynamics will be crucial to your success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Promote safety awareness and ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and quality assurance systems.
  2. Guide the team in achieving targets related to labor efficiency, compliance with enterprise agreements, payroll processes, safety protocols, staff development, performance evaluations, continuous improvement initiatives, cleanliness, production, service quality, and cost management.
  3. Engage in quality system audits, foster strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction, and maintain effective partnerships with suppliers to achieve quality and supply chain objectives.
  4. Formulate and execute production and maintenance strategies, keep performance records, and manage the introduction of new products into the production line.
  5. Oversee and evaluate production and maintenance outputs, weekly key performance indicators, and labor expenses. Ensure a comprehensive understanding of profit and loss statements and actively participate in the budgeting process.

What You Will Bring:

  1. Significant experience in people management within a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  2. Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and SAP, with additional experience in maintenance systems being advantageous.
  3. A collaborative, hands-on approach with a natural ability to cultivate and sustain meaningful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Relevant engineering or production qualifications and/or experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  5. Strong financial acumen, particularly in production budgeting (labor and spoilage).
