Sydney is a hub for asset management in Australia, and this role presents an opportunity to join a growing international asset manager with a significant market presence. The company is seeking a senior hire to support the launch of a fixed income capability.

This position will be responsible for managing fixed income ETFs, assisting in formulating product strategies, and leading the growth of the asset class within the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of fixed income ETFs, ensuring they perform in line with their investment objectives and remain within mandates.
  • Provide input on setting up fixed income portfolio management and trading capabilities.
  • Monitor daily reconciliations between front office systems and official valuations.
  • Identify and execute trades necessary for funds to meet their investment objectives.
  • Monitor capital markets activities and maintain knowledge of financial products.
  • Assist with regular fund reporting requirements, including preparing reports for management and rating agencies.
  • Improve operational efficiencies in the portfolio management and trading process.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for fund information from sales and clients.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, e.g., CFA.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in fixed income portfolio management and trading, with direct indexing/ETF experience being an advantage.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of financial products and strong analytical skills to calculate and interpret portfolio management and risk measurements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge, including VBA programming skills.
  • Ability to make decisions quickly in a high-pressure environment and have a strong risk management mindset.
  • Familiarity with fixed income trading platforms, such as Bloomberg, MarketAxess, and TradeWeb.

The estimated salary for this position is around $120,000-$180,000 AUD per annum, depending on experience. This figure is based on industry standards and the location of Sydney.
