Spiritual Care in Aged Care

Every individual has a unique spiritual journey that requires a tailored approach to care. As a Spiritual Care Coordinator, you will lead and support our Spiritual Care team to provide quality spiritual care centered on the individual needs and outcomes of our residents.

Purpose of the Role

  • To lead and support the Spiritual Care team in delivering holistic care and connections to the community
  • To ensure spiritual care respects and acknowledges resident choices and preferences
  • To provide spiritual care resources adequate to meet identified spiritual needs of residents, their families, and the organization
  • To support residents in preparing for end-of-life by reflecting on their life, contribution, worth, and legacy
  • To develop, deliver, and lead innovative approaches to spirituality, including activities, church services, devotions, memorial services, rituals, and celebrations

Your Skills and Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in Pastoral Care, Chaplaincy, or Ministry
  • Experience in Pastoral ministry and/or Chaplaincy
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating delivery of spiritual care support and approaches to people from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • High level communication skills, interpersonal, written, and oral, with an ability to develop rapport quickly with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working with elderly communities, ideally with previous or current health or aged care experience
