Materials Engineer Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical advice on construction material selection, assessment and durability for a range of structural engineering projects.

About the Position
  • Undertake condition assessments of structures consisting of concrete, steel and other materials.
  • Conduct site inspections and prepare detailed inspection reports.
  • Develop remedial specifications that include advice on material type and selection.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop durability plans for major infrastructure projects.
  • Assess and determine environmental exposure classes for concrete and steel elements.
  • Co-ordinate design activities with wider project teams and other disciplines.
  • Develop fee proposals and assist with submissions for structural and multidisciplinary projects.
  • Provide support to project managers in the management of projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong technical foundation in Materials/Civil/Structural engineering.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Materials/Structural/Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant post graduate experience.
  • Practical experience in materials assessment, selection and inspection within a range of structures and environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
