Wood is recruiting a Materials Engineer to contribute to advisory services for internal teams and external clients. This is a permanent, full-time role based in Perth CBD, working on a major brownfields Engineering Service Contract with a leading Oil & Gas client.

This role offers mentorship by the Head of Discipline - Materials within Wood, working on a dedicated client contract team. You'll gain hands-on experience across diverse projects, developing expertise in materials and corrosion engineering, with support to grow technical skills and contribute to high-impact work in a collaborative environment.
Your main responsibilities will include supporting proposal development, selecting appropriate materials, mitigating corrosion risks, understanding welding metallurgy, and preparing technical reports.
- Materials & Corrosion Expertise: Assist in selecting and specifying suitable materials, coatings, and linings based on project requirements and environmental conditions. Contribute to corrosion risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and review welding documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Project Support & Technical Analysis: Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation aligned with client specifications and industry standards to support project execution and decision-making.
- Standards & Compliance: Learn and apply relevant industry codes and standards for brownfield and greenfield projects, ensuring all deliverables meet industry and client requirements.

Expected
- Able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location; visa applicants are encouraged to apply.
- Qualified in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related engineering discipline from a recognised institution.
- Recent graduate or early-career engineer with experience in materials engineering, preferably in asset integrity, corrosion mitigation, materials selection, welding metallurgy, or related fields.
- Knowledge of industry standards and codes related to materials, corrosion, welding, and coatings is advantageous.
Desirable
Commitment to developing a career in Materials Science within the Oil & Gas industry.
