Opportunity in Orthopaedic Surgery

The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network seeks a Trainee - Unaccredited Position to develop orthopaedic skills in clinical care, procedures, education, research, and supervision.

The Trainee will provide orthopaedic support to patients of paediatric Staff Specialists and Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs), as well as trauma and emergency support in various hospital areas. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the provision of skilled orthopaedic support
  • Providing orthopaedic consultation and service to other disciplines
  • Assessing and caring for patients referred to the relevant orthopaedic service
  • Communicating and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams within and outside the hospital

The Trainee will work under the supervision of consultant paediatric orthopaedic surgeons and have opportunities to teach junior medical officers, nurses, and undergraduates. The position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals, and ongoing commitment to further education and professional development.

Selection Criteria:

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  2. Minimum three years postgraduate experience
  3. At least 12 months previous orthopaedic surgical experience, with substantial paediatric experience desirable
