Wildlife Research Associate

About this role:

We are seeking a Wildlife Research Associate to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for collecting wildlife data related to bushfire research and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fieldwork involving surveys of wildlife in Victoria.
  • Deploy wildlife cameras and acoustic monitoring devices, including driving to field locations.
  • Tag images of wildlife and/or acoustic recordings with taxonomic identifications and prepare data for registration.
  • Coordinate with research teams from the University of Melbourne.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience undertaking field-based animal surveys and safety procedures.
  • Experience identifying Australian vertebrates, especially birds.
  • Experience managing images and metadata.
  • Experience entering data into spreadsheets and maintaining records.
