Veterinary Nurse - Surgical Care Specialist

We are seeking an experienced veterinary nurse to join our centre, providing advanced medical services for animals with a diverse group of respected veterinary specialists.

The ideal candidate will possess a high level of nursing skills and experience, along with the ability to learn new skills quickly. They must be able to work within a fast-paced environment and provide high-quality patient care.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting with diagnostic procedures, pre-operative processes, setting up theatre, providing surgical assistance, managing central sterile supply, monitoring procedures, post-operative care, and administration and maintenance tasks.

A Certificate IV in nursing is a prerequisite for this role. We are looking for a highly motivated team member with good client and staff relationship skills, who thrives in a busy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Diagnostic Procedures: Assist veterinarians with diagnostic procedures to ensure accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans.
  • Pre-Operative Processes: Prepare patients for surgery by conducting thorough pre-operative checks and ensuring all necessary equipment is available.
  • Surgical Assistance: Provide support to surgeons during operations, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Central Sterile Supply Management: Ensure the efficient management of central sterile supplies, including preparation, storage, and distribution.
  • Post-Operative Care: Provide compassionate and skilled care to patients after surgery, monitoring their recovery and addressing any concerns.

Requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Nursing: A qualification in nursing is essential for this role, with a focus on surgical nursing.
  • Nursing Experience: Proven experience in veterinary nursing, preferably in a similar role.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients.
