Surgical Veterinary Assistant Role

This key role is responsible for providing support to veterinary surgeons in delivering exceptional care to our patients. As a skilled surgical assistant, you will be working closely with the surgical team to ensure that all procedures are carried out safely and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures such as imaging and laboratory tests.
  • Participate in pre-operative preparations, including patient assessment and preparation of equipment.
  • Contribute to theatre setup and assist with the provision of surgical assistance.
  • Support anaesthesia and analgesia teams during procedures.
  • Manage and maintain central sterile supply stock.
  • Assist with monitoring procedures, including vital signs and anaesthetic levels.
  • Contribute to post-operative care, ensuring smooth transitions and timely recovery.

Requirements:
  • Qualified veterinary nurse with a minimum of 3 years' experience in general practice.
  • Certificate IV in nursing (or equivalent qualification) is a prerequisite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • A strong focus on teamwork and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of clinical care.
