Design Specialist Role Overview

We are seeking a talented Design Specialist to elevate our customers' shopping experience through exceptional design expertise and excellent customer service in a dynamic, specialty retail environment.

The successful candidate will work 30 hours per fortnight with a fixed two-week rotating roster including alternate weekends.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide personalized design consultations in-store, in-home, virtually and via chat to enhance the shopping experience for our valued customers.
  2. Offer tailored recommendations on products, colours, and designs that align with each client's style and needs.
  3. Drive sales through expert product knowledge and business-to-business opportunities.
  4. Build and maintain lasting client relationships, including contacting them about new product arrivals, sales, and decorating classes.
  5. Maintain visual merchandising, process transactions, and follow workplace health and safety standards.
  • Requirements:
  1. 1–2 years of design experience.
  2. Retail sales experience in home furnishings with a strong service mindset.
  3. Confident communication and ability to build lasting client relationships.
  4. Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple projects.
  5. Flexibility to work weekends, peak periods, and travel for home consults.
  • Physical Requirements:
  1. Ability to be mobile in the store and back-of-house areas, including standing for long periods.
  2. Ability to climb ladders and use other equipment in line with safety standards.
  3. Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 30kg, while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques.
