Job Opportunity

The Animal Welfare League Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Rehoming Centres. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational efficiency, and relationship building with local councils.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership: Work closely with the CEO to set the strategy for successful adoption programs in Australia, focusing on placing companion animals into permanent loving homes. Champion change and process improvement to align with organisational goals and a One Welfare approach.
  2. Operational Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of passionate managers. Ensure systems and policies are effectively implemented to improve efficiency and enhance productivity across all Rehoming Centres.
  3. Relationship Management: Manage and build strong relationships with local councils and other key stakeholders. Identify and secure corporate partnerships, grant opportunities, and develop new adoption initiatives to grow our reach and impact.
  4. Financial Oversight: Oversee departmental performance targets, ensuring they are met. Review and report on monthly and annual profits and expenses, investigating any abnormalities to maintain financial health.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role in Animal Care/Animal Shelter industry.
  • Proven experience in multi-site operations.
  • A valid driver's licence and commitment to attend all sites regularly.

  • Established personal and professional networks that can be leveraged to benefit the organisation.
