Job Title: Pre-Natal Child Protection Specialist
">Pre-Natal Child Protection Specialist RoleThis role focuses on ensuring the safety and well-being of children before birth. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and addressing potential risks to children.
About the Role- Work collaboratively with parents, family members, children or young people in a sensitive and respectful manner
- Build strong relationships with other agencies and engage in complex problem-solving strategies
- Travel across various locations will be required
In this position, you will undertake thorough assessments and investigations of expectant parents to identify and address safety concerns for children after their birth. You will also advocate for and support families to engage with relevant services and participate in key meetings such as Pregnancy Family Conferences or hospital complex case meetings.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive assessments and ongoing family work with expectant parents
- Develop and maintain strong networks and relationships with key stakeholders, particularly with NSW Health staff
- Collaborate with NSW Health in promoting and implementing the Pregnancy Family Conferencing Model
The primary focus of decision making for this specialist is assessing and investigating expectant parents during pregnancy to reduce risks and help them build skills to care safely for their baby.
Requirements- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Social Science, Welfare or related field
- Preferred experience working as a Midwife, Nurse, or working with expectant parents, or experience in other roles with NSW Health
To succeed as a Child Protection Specialist, you should possess confidence, curiosity, and resilience. A valid driver's licence and paid working with children clearance number are also essential.

- Possessing excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Having a sound understanding of child protection principles and practices
